Finally Columbo gets a release. The best TV Detective by far. :smashin:

Universal Studios Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Columbo: The Complete First Season for 7th September 2004 with a retail price of $59.98. Lt. Columbo, a dishevelled, cigar-chomping sleuth, appears to be an incompetent bumbler. But that facade is designed to lull his murder suspects’ into a false sense of security. Despite appearances, Columbo is the shrewdest, most resourceful detective in the LAPD. In every episode, he slowly and methodically pieces together the smallest of clues leading to the identity of the killer.

This 5 disc set includes all seven episodes from the first season running at 90mins each (including the Pilot directed by Steven Spielberg) and the two original Columbo TV movies (Prescription: Murder, Ransom for a Dead Man) spread over five-discs in Full Frame with English Mono audio and optional subtitles in English, French and Spanish.

This is one series that always left me stone cold.

Rich arrogant bloke/woman murders someone. Columbo susses them very early on, then spends rest of episode bugging them by going through bumbling - and annoying - cop routine, until they slip up and they're nicked.

    Every week. Every single episode.

    Redefines the term formulaic...

The original R2 releases consisted of 2 3-episode discs. Hardly compares to the season sets now coming out in both R1 and R2.

I shall be sticking to R1 releases of course.

I doubt that there will be any extras on any of these season sets - there were certainly none with season 1.

Confucious, it was the earlier releases that I think mjn was refering to, which is not the same as the one due out in March. ;)

    Etude In Black
    The Greenhouse Jungle
    The Most Crucial Game
    Dagger Of The Mind
    Requiem For A falling Star
    A Stitch In Crime
    The Most Dangerous Game
    Double Shock

These should be the titles available for season 2. Most of these being 90mins long on 4 disks.
