Color range reduction and flickering on Acer H6510BD DLP projector

The picture quality on my Acer H6510BD DLP projector has deteriorated significantly with flickering and color reduction. It does not match descriptions for DLP bulb failure however i replaced it anyway with no change. The projector also sometimes fails to start properly (red flashing light is shown).

Here is a video of the image problem.

Does anyone recognise this issue? I am wondering if it is the color wheel and if so, can i resolve it myself or does it need a specialist?

EDIT - it seems links are not allowed on these forurms. As a description, the picture looks "16-bit" and also flickers. It seems to get worse after about an hour of use.

Check your warranty if you have one, and contact Acer themselves, they may be of some help.

I've not heard of people fixing busted color wheels, but it is something you can look into.

You can post pictures or video's directly here too.
