Got the demo for this two days ago.
    Simply Fantastic.

    I haven't played a rally game since CMR 2.0
I'd forgotten how fun they are. So fun I've gone and reinstalled 2 and dug out my steering wheel.

Doesn't hold a candle to CMR 4 though. The amount of damage you can do to your car and keep moving is great. Flying off a corner in the USA demo level and spinning through a tree resulted in my rear right wheel rolling off down the road without me. While chasing after it (sparks flying) I ripped the rear bumper off, shredded the other back tire leaving just the wheel rim. Had white then black smoke pouring out of my engine.
The engine cut out but luckily I was able to start it again. My passenger door fell off.......

Oh I do hold a valid driver's license btw so beware :D

Am very happy this game is coming out 2nd April. Will be practicing on CMR2 until then.

(Relieved it runs perfectly on my old PIII 800. Guess the nVidia 4200 Ti card helps some).

Does this version of CMR provide force-feedback for the steering wheel ? I tried the demo of CMR 3 and it didn't, so I never bothered with it.

Why do you think I crashed?

Yep, I've got a Guillemot Forcefeedback Thrustmaster racing wheel. I had the feedback in the game set to high. Felt good. Think I'll lower it next time. (or maybe try the extreme setting  ).

i would definitely advise you do that. I've tried the demo with my Logitech MOMO (red), and have to say that the force-feedback is garbage compared to how CMR2 feels - maybe its just a bug with my particular wheel and this game, i dont know. What i do know is that i'm much more looking forward to 'Richard Burns Rally'.

Have been playing the demo for a few weeks now. After giving up on CMR3 which, to me, just didn't feel right, I loaded this demo expecting the worst.

Wrong. The handling really has been tweaked perfectly, and the graphics are 1st rate. I've even been playing the in car view through the PJ against a wall, superb fun.

I tried it last night and can confirm the force feedback is far better than in CMR 3, but I assume there must be later demos than the one I've got. Mine says it's 95% complete - and the menu system is absolutely apalling - it keeps hanging up and changing from wanting input via the cursor keys to expecting you to turn the steering wheel to select - but with no on-screen prompts to tell you this. I gave in after a couple of drives as it was annoying me.
Also there was no engine sound - all the rest of the sound was ok but it's quite off putting not being able to hear the engine.

Yeah mine is 95% complete as well. Haven't noticed any problems with the menu system and the engine noise is there, just very quiet. I figure it'll be better in the real game or maybe I just need to tweek the settings a bit.
Anyway, it's on order from play.com (17.99) and it's released on Fri 2nd. So it won't be long until I find out.

I bought it and love it.
Am taking a break from it right now as I wasn't doing anything else (like sleeping or eating).

I have heard some people have had problems getting the force feedback to work properly. Lots of info about that on the Codemasters forums.
I've had no problems myself. Works perfectly.
    Definitely recommended.

I'm going to buy it - it's only £17-99 at Play. I didn't have any probs with force feedback on the demo so I assume I'll be OK with the game proper. The handling seems a lot more realistic than previous versions of the game.

Just wait 'til you unlock the various B-Class cars. They're fuuuuun.
I swear I got the 205 to jump over a tree (and lost 2 wheels upon landing).

Played the full game for the 1st time last night. All I can say is WOW this is a major step forward from CMR2 which I've been playing for years. The graphics are stunnig and even more importantly the handling of the cars is superb.
    I'm hooked
Now all I need to do is to find out how to unlock all the tracks etc

Did you unlock them with codes or by racing?

I'm doing it through racing. Have done 2WD normal and advanced and 4WD normal. Have just finished Spain in the 4WD advanced (and am in first of course).
Had a lot of trouble with Finland, kept flying into trees and down ditches. Finished with no doors! But then found Sweden extremley easy. At the end of two stages, had only damaged the tyres by a few percent.

Haven't unlocked the Quattro yet. Am looking forward to that....

Phew! I'm glad. Thought I was being c**p at the game to not have unlocked everything already.
