Just seen reports that a helicopter registered to Colin McRae has crashed in scotland. It was a 2 seater and supposedly was on fire after the crash.

I've got all fingers crossed and hope everythings ok but it was supposed to be on the McRae estate as well :(

Apparently 2 people have been killed, but don't know who those 2 people are yet.

It doesn't look good, just heard that there were no survivors. Burns was a big loss to WRC and British Rallying, I hope we haven't lost another British rallying legend....WRC has missed him big time

I'm sure I heard he was going to return to the WRC next year, hope he wasn't in the helicopter, although either way it isn't good...

I hate to say this guys but it was him,we've lost a legend.
I stay close to him and have spoken with a friend who has told me that Colin had dropped another friend off in Hamilton and was returning to his home when it happened.Himself and a passenger were killed, ive been told it was a french guy that was in it with him although this is not 100% also told his son has been critically injured but again this is not 100% as news says there were 2 people killed and no survivors on board the chopper,so perhaps his son was watching it coming in and was injured in the fire.
I never met Colin but he was one of my heroes,i stopped watching WRC when he left,he was unique,so exciting to watch.

My thoughts go out to all the McRae family.

My body feels weak just reading the news.

    My all time hero.

Another sad loss for the sport.

Rest in peace to him and his son.

Rest in peace to the other passengers.

    Terrible news.:(

I've followed Colin since he started rallying, as other have said, the WRC wasn't the same without him. Same goes for RIchard Burns too, another great loss.

    RIP mate.

My thoughts are with his family and friends.

McRae Feared Dead In Helicopter Crash

    Sky News:Updated: 00:11, Sunday September 16, 2007

Rally driver Colin McRae is believed to be among four people killed in a helicopter crash near his country home.
Strathclyde Police said the 39-year-old star was believed to be on board the aircraft, which crashed at Jerviswood, near Lanark at about 4.10pm yesterday. There were four people on board, but no formal identifications have taken place yet.
A statement released by the force stated: "The bodies were found within the helicopter which is owned by Mr Colin McRae of Jerviswood House, Lanark.
"It is believed he was onboard the helicopter however until formal identification has taken place, we will not be able to confirm the identities of those onboard."
Police are to remain at the scene through the night where a thorough search of the area continues.
Air accident investigators will carry out a full investigation into the cause of the crash.
McRae became the Briton to win the World Rally Championship drivers' title in 1995 and hails from a well-known motor racing family in Scotland.
His father, Jimmy, is a five-time British rally champion and his brother, Alister, is also former British rally champion.
Colin McRae is married to Alison and has two children, Hollie and Johnny.
As well as winning the world championship driving a Subaru in 1995, he was runner-up in 1996, 1997 and 2001.

Sad news. What irony to die in an helicopter, when he risked it all in car.
