My mate's just caught one off his 2 kids, so I think there's one doing the rounds at the moment.

Three colleagues sitting very close to me have been off sick with this flu/bug thing that’s going around. I’ve stocked up on vitamins to hope I’m not next. :(

    Best way to avoid colds...

Always wash your hands - just as many or even more germs spread that way than through coughing & sneezing.

Take Echinacea - but not all the time or else it will lessen the effect. Take it for about 2 weeks max each time - either if there are people around you with colds or at the first sign that you're getting one. It boosts your immune system so that you can fight the cold better and you either don't get it or you don't get it so bad. Its worked for me for years.

Vitamin C is good too though :smashin:

Garlic’s better, it keeps people away from you.

I heard Vit C helps the symptoms but does not prevent a cold.

I've had a cold for nearly two weeks and a nasty cough since Sunday. Shivers/hot/cold on Sunday night - just what I wanted for starting a new job on Monday. Still, I think I've sweated the worst out, but the cold/cough still remains. Serves me right for boasting about being 'cold-free' so far this year, although seriously, I don't think the continuous hot/cold change in weather helps!

Apparently the way the compounds are formed in vitamin pills is so different from how they are found naturally in fruit and vegetables that your body doesn't digest vitamin pills and they are pretty useless. Have a search on the net, there are plenty of journals to back it up.

best way to get over a cold is eat a lot of brocolli and citrus fruit, as well as plenty of garlic and ginger. A big bowl of extra spicy chilli con carne always sorts out my sinuses if i've got a cold.
