i have seen a lot of posts about the RROD while playing call of duty 4, it has happened to me too, do you think it is too much for the 360 to handle and is killing them, and is there's anything infinity ward can do about it.

The same could be said for everyone who played Bioshock for hours on end....and Oblivion....and Gears of War. All had reports of 360's keeling over.

It's not the fault of the game. ;)

We had COD4 a few days after xmas and too be honest it has not been out of the machine. In fact we have logged about 24 hours online use.

The more the console is powered the more risk it poses to breaking down, just like any other semiconductor based piece of electronic equipment.

Our Xbox seems fine, but I am really not going to loose any sleep about it breaking down.

MS have done extensive testing of the hardware, and there have been lots of reports of breakdowns. It would be interesting to see how many units have broken down to how many sold.
Sometimes the units break because the user sticks them on a narrow shelf or similar with poor or no ventilation, or cover it in books and clothes and wonder why it stops working!!!!!

It's very unlikely for the games to damage the xbox

The chances are those 360's were faulty anyway and a GFX intensive game like CoD4 has pushed the GFX card hard enough to expose the fault.

Although it is posible for software to break hardware by getting it to do something it wasn't designed for I very much doubt its a problem with the game this time.

Last year, every big game that came out; Forza2, GHII, Halo3, Orange Box, etc had scores of people posting on XBox.com saying "Game X broke my console!"

Pure co-incidence.

Agreed, I remember the posts on here, specifically reguarding Forza 2, Halo 3 and Bioshock.

i play a fair bit and had the occasional feeze "prior" to the game, but no more than that.

The point though is a fair one, the more intensive the graphics are, the hotter the processor will run, COD4 (graphically) is as good as it gets on the 360 at the moment, time will tell.
