That's a shame, good channel...
Sounds like the replacement should be pretty good though, prob plenty of the batman toons that'll keep me happy !
Thoroughly infuriating news, as I thought CNX was just hitting their stride. I just hope they get through the season of The Shield before relegating themselves to the mediocrity that is the teenage TV market.
It was one of the few channels I watched. Im beginning to find very little to watch for my subs.
Dam you Turner!!!!!
Arrrghhh, satellite/cable is turning into such ****e!!! Every channel is pretty much the same. I now only watch extreme sports channel and usually normal Terrestrial channels (and the odd bit of Bravo, Macguyver is ace!).
Well that's that knackered then. CNX is the first channel flicked to when I turn on the telly.
Looks like I'll never catch another episode of Samurai Jack, Batman Beyond, Justice League, X-Men Evolution etc etc etc. again. I know they'll be on the replacement channel, but not nearly as frequent so i'll miss them. Doh!
The more I think about this, the more confused it makes me. I can understand shifting a channels demographics, but CNX hasn't even had a chance to find an audience yet. I'm guessing this is more about internal company politics than doing what's best for the channel.
One thing is for certain. Come September, I'm gonna have a whole lot less to watch on TV. Heck, I was even watching that b*st*rdized He-Man remake!
Anybody know a good email or mailing address to send a letter of disapproval about this? The CNX website is truly pointless. I'm guessing it would make more sense to contact Turner UK direct.
Just to extend this piece of news, CNX ceases in September, and will leave its Sky Digital EPG position of 244, and go into the 600's, with all the other childrens channels.
The station is to be also renames "Toonami", and the target audience will be 8-14 year old males.
When CNX started, it was a good channel: adult martial arts films; adult animations like "Spawn", "Cowboy Bebop" and "Outlaw Star". But now, it's just not worth watching. the films are often shown in the wrong ratios. The few remaining anime shows like "Tenchi Muyo" and "Gundam Wing" are horribly censored for the kiddies, and even adult dramas like "The Shield" and "Boomtown" have already been on Five. Having said that, I am watching "Boomtown" on CNX, because I missed so many episodes when it was on Five.
Toonami is just going to show the same junk as Fox Kids, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, etc. What's the point? At least CNX was aimed at a different audience.
The good news, though, is that in December 2003, Sky Digital viewers will get a new channel called "The Horror Channel". As you'd expect, the station will devote itself to all things horrific, from old episodes of "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" and "Friday The 13th: The Series" to horror movies from the 30's to the more modern titles we all collect. Ironically, this channel will be run by the same company who do the GOD Channel! And this is genuine! I swear I am not making this up!
What a shame and lame excuse from Carlton. Perhaps they could point us to where these other channels are showing the same all the same stuff and/or unedited. Morons.
The problem i see with this is the great whacking logo i bet they have planned for the corner of the screen. Horror films for me, are all about creating an atmosphere. Imagine old classics like the Karloff's or Chaney's, with a shiny logo for company.
Kolchak: The Night Stalker! Great series, I haven't seen that since they were shown years ago on BBC2. It was on some late night thing presented by Richard O'Brien.............called Ghost Train or Late Train or something like that.
Oh well, as one door closes........... Bye bye CNX.
Does all this mean no more Samurai Jack no more JLA no swimsuit specials .
Seems like blandness has won the war against originallity.
No, when CNX becomes "Toonami" in September, you will still get Samurai Jack and Justice League Of America. However, the Sports Illustrated stuff will be dropped.
However, if that's your "thing", then just watch Bravo or Granada Plus instead, if you want to see Ladies in little or no attire!
Or Men and Motors
Fashion TV can be pretty good for scantily clad ladies. Watch out for lingerie and swimsuit specials! and it's not even seedy behaviour - keeping up to date with the latest fashions
Plus, (not that I know firsthand of course) Fashion TV is also the only channel that shows nudity in the middle of the day.
Garrett was right. I meant "Granada Men And Motors", not "Granada Plus".
Also, you can check out free porn on the Game Network channel. Watch a programme called "Babestation", at 23:00 every night of the week, and you'll see what I mean!
Separate names with a comma.
