CNN silent on Freeview channel 84

CNN has been broadcasting in silence on Freeview channel 84 for at least the past 24 hours.

Can we have the sound back please?!
Has someone in transmission sat on the mute button?

It would be good to have audio in time for the Obama coverage.
I wonder if they're even aware this has happenned.

There's mention that CNN has been broadcasting with sound on only one of the stereo channels. Maybe in your setup, only the other channel is connected.

Thanks. Strange co-incidence.

So CNN are transmitting on just one leg of audio.
I do hope they plug the other sound cable back in some time soon.

Still - I'd rather have CNN on one leg than Fox News in any format!

This may be a covert indication of their position in the Christian divide?

Do they lead with the left or the right channel?

Welcome to the future of television,Back in the old days somebodys head would roll for faults like that.

That's because back in the old days we had enough staff to continuously monitor each channel in sound and vision.

In the multi-channel age, I suspect monitoring is mostly automatic, with just the occasional human intervention.

It's called progress...

It's been like that since they started broadcasting.(Although for the 1st 30 minutes it was in stretched 16:9!)

I think it may have supposed to be a mono channel, knowing freeview bandwidth, but who knows.

If you want a temporary solution to watch it, without annoying you:
Check if your IDTV or freeview box has an audio select button.
Change it from stereo to mono or stereo to left speaker, it will then sound as if it's coming out of both speakers.

Just remember to change it back.

Surely they must fix this soon though!

Has anyone here contacted them about it?

Well it was fixed last night, but it does sound like mono.

If you listen to one of there promos, the music sounds like mono through headphones.

Oh well, I'd rather have mono sound on a news channel, than be a blocky mess due to bandwidth.
