Got Deep Impact on BBC1 at present via $ky.

Its the first movie I've watched since BBC switched off encryption.

Now is it just me, or is the picture quality better?

I actually watched analogue BBC1 last night and found it to be superior. The digital version was pale and washed out in comparison. :)

Well....my analogue pic is pretty poo anyway (communial aerial), so I can't really compare.

My $ky picture did however seem clearer than before encryption was removed, even the missus thought it looked better!

Now, would the removal of encryption improve the signal, if the bandwidth remained the same? Maybe because the encryption part of the transmission stream is now gone, there is a higher bitrate of picture information if you know what I mean?
