hi all

apologies for asking in this forum

I upgraded a while ago form windows 8 to windows 10 during the free upgrade period but now I would like to do a fresh install of windows 10, do I have to do a fresh install from my windows 8 disc first then upgrade to 10 from there or can I install 10 fresh without the need for the old disc ?

I have already backed up data from the ssd to a portable hard drive.

thanks very much

You should be able to download the windows 10 iso file and install from that for nothing. As long as you've got your licence key for Windows 8 you'll be fine. Last time I re-installed I had to call Microsoft and give them my Windows 7 licence key to prove ownership and they activated my Windows 10 install there and then.
