    *Haggler edit*

Although i have left these threads intact (still browsable) and they are picked up by google cache they are now obsolete due to lots of broken links and a massive 120 hr update on my part, please use the list below instead (links to new posts) which features links fixed, many new additions including preview video clips and remixes of original game music.

The Retro clones/remakes A-Z list here

The original post is below :-

We already got the "Classic amiga games remake thread" so i'm adding a commodore 64 remake thread to run alongside it, hopefully rooting out some true classic remakes along the way.

Please feel free to comment or discuss the games within, or add links to games of your own but please try and make sure they :-

    A) Were originally available on the commodore 64
    B) Are freeware, not shareware or commercial.
    C) Are a remake not the original game

Here's a link to a true classic commodore 64 game Delta the name has been changed to Omega and the graphics have had a major overhaul but it plays great and the title music is still very similar to the original. No installation is required.

Download available here :- Free Game Download of Omega @ Demonews.com

    Or here :- http://www.merseyremakes.co.uk/downloads/delta.zip

Another shootemup in the form of IO, the original release was absolutely solidly hard, apparently this remade version is a tad easier, it's also lovely looking and plays well enough, though personally i still think it's too hard but maybe my reflexes ain't what they used to be. Again no installation is necessary.

Download available here :- Download and play IO - Shooters - Classic Retro Games

A legend of a game and one my all time fav C64 games. At the time the graphics were gob smacking, sort of crysis for the 8 bit world. :smashin:

Thanks for the heads up on this saibot.

I think i spent more time listening to the loading music (which was different for every new load) and the actual level soundtracks than playing the actual game, especially for ninja 1 and 2, yes the music was that good, slightly off topic but if your a ninja fan check out these 2 remixes of the original tunes :-

Last ninja inner sanctum by TmX (The second half is amazing)

Last ninja 1 and 2 remaster by TmX

Remember little computer people?, a game which never really got the sequel it deserved, sure the sims have took it to the realms of 3d but as quick fun entertainment for 10 minutes nothing has come close.

Step up A day in the life, it looks similar, it plays similar and it's got willy in it :D controls are arrow keys, space to jump, v to use and q quits the game once at title. try it out no install is required.

grab it here :- Free Game Download of A Day in the Life @ Demonews.com

    Or here :- http://www.merseyremakes.co.uk/downloads/aditl.zip

Ok Spiky harold here's one game i never heard of myself and i had over 300 commodore 64 games back in the day and that didn't include those compilation cassettes with 10 games on! still apparently it was a commodore 64 game so here it is.

Not a bad remake at all it plays well and looks much better now than the original game, kids may love it if they can stand the jump up and you may bash your head on something gameplay.
