When I use the link to order an item, and then enter a voucher code, it takes me to the address details without applying the voucher. I tried last night with no luck as well.

The DVD's in Portugeuse & not english, so you'll have to read subtitles (but to be honest when watching it, I really didn't care!)...

One of the best films I've ever seen, stunning cinematography, and everything else in the movie's simply excellent...

And try to ignore all these reviews which call it "The south american Goodfellas" or "the new pulp fiction" - as it's far far better than either of those films & very much different.

So for people who've got the R3 version of this - what's the DTS mix like? The Dolby 5.1 mix was pretty good when I watched it, it worth buying again for the DTS mix?

Had an email saying dispatched on the 18th. Disc was here on the 19th first post.

Internet service the way it should be, all the way from Hong Kong.

Film btw is brilliant. Top class from the opening scenes right through to the end. I got the R3 with DTS for £6.49, excellent image transfer.:smashin:

Hi Dimmy, yes mate I watched it with 5.1 DTS last night. The original soundtrack is Portuguese so the film will have to be subtitled English (if you're not hispanic that is), though it doesn't detract from the film in anyway.

It's not the most crash bang wallop soundtrack anyway, as most of the film is verbal. So tbh 5.1 Digital or DTS on this one doesn't make a great deal of difference. Some of the gang violence scenes you can hear some great sonic steering, bullets and bottles flying about. But all in all DD or DTS as I say is not worth getting hung up on this one. Though at £6.99 why not get it anyway ???

I was however very impressed with the quality of the image transfer.

All in all a very engaging and thoroughly entertaining bit of World Cinema. It is a great film, but do not watch it with pre-conceptions of Goodfellas ( you can see why the analogy). City of God is a bit more real life and a matter of fact than Hollywood and all the better for it. :smashin:

Ordered this film on Monday, received yesterday morning and watched it last night.....first word that springs to mind is WOW.
This is a superb film which is stunningly shot.
The DTS soundtrack is great too.
I did try to see this at my local arthouse cinema twice but both times it was sold out and now i can see why......if u get a chance purchase tis film....you will not be disappointed.

    thx original poster.
I got it for 5.49, if you ganna watch a movie why not watch it in it native language, I reckon it adds to the enjoyment of a movie anyway. Check out Amelie that was great.

Just as long as the subtitles are reasonably placed

After reading all the reviews I can hardly wait to watch this movie,

I picked up Bullet Proof too whilst I was there for the same.

    lurvely:D :D

    WOW that was brutal.
    Great movie.
I could not find the time to watch this in one go, but when you start to watch it its difficult to drag yourself away.
Only anoying thing with this disc is the subtitles that you must setup in the menu. If you forget to switch them on you gotta go back to menu to turn them on. Or praps thats just my ageing 717, but I doubt it.

I have ordered Shaolin Soccer form cdwow, the trailor looks wicked.
