Just finished the Cinematrix live chat, some very interesting products on their way by 4th quarter this year;

    PSM-2, the successor to the PSM-1. It will now include 72hz scanning as well as other rates upto 120hz (one of the main critisisms of the PSM-1), multiple resolutions. A new inhouse de-interlacing chip will used, this is apparently being developed in conjunction with Joe Kane! Price for the mod will be approx £400.

    Delphi, a new DVD player which includes the PSM-2 mod. Price will be around £2000 (top end stuff eh!) but may have the ability to scale other inputs as well!

    Cinescaler, a new stand-alone scaler again PSM-2 based priced at £1000, has component, RGBHV, Svideo etc inputs/Outputs. Based on PSM-2. This could be a killer piece of kit!

    Happy days!

    I must admit to being intrigued as to how the Cinematrix company can put a Scaler in a DVD Player but the mainstream manufacturers are not allowed.

    I fully expect this to break down in the year to come.

    Blade,
Totally agree, a DVD player with an integrated scaler is a logical step. Cinematrix are clearly a full step ahead of the competition but this has also been their undoing as no-one up until recently (Uncle Eric excepted!)really thought their product to be practical - the fiasco with MSB in the US put paid to their breaking into the US market late last year.

    PSM-2 and the Delphi should see them leap back up the credibility stakes and once again be the industry leader. Personally I can't wait, they deserve nothing but credit for their innovative (if slightly hidden under a bushell) products.
Regards,
Paul

    I guess what Cinematrix is doing is very clever, it's an upgrade to existing DVD players.
The big ones (Sony, Denon, Yamaha etc) may have subscribed to certain restrictions in the production of DVD player due to licensing and usage of logos or pressure from the recording industry.
There is IMHO no "law" which prevents any modifications or add-on solutions to DVD players at a later stage (the same way a region code is compulsory but a multiregion mod is nothing illegal).

    If that Delphi player is Cinematrix's own product they perhaps just give a ****.
