Cinemateq has announced that the new firmware update (4.10) for its Picture Optimizer Plus (II SDI) series is now officially available and can be downloaded from the Internet and installed for free.

Key modifications introduced by the update are: * Faster Input-Switching - The speed of image formation has been increased, and the actual switching of the input signal has become faster - especially if the video-standard of the relevant input is fixed to VIDEO NORM PAL in the INPUT PRESETTINGS menu. * More stable operation with TV-zapping - If interrupted for less than 2 seconds, the picture remains stable rather than being initialised again. * Overscan button predefined with current Overscan value of 96% - a full image with 100% overscan is still predefined for all eight inputs. But by pressing the "os" - overscan - button you can now zoom-in to a preassigned setting with 96% overscan, to compensate for the slightly reduced quality of broadcast TV. Other Overscan values can still be fixed individually for each input inside the INPUT PRESETTINGS menu. * Finer RGB gamma correction - For a finer correction of colour cast defects, the increment of the RGB gamma correction has been halved. * Improved RGB quantisation - The representation of grey- and colour nuances takes place more precisely, and with refined transitions. The Firmware 4.10 is available now at cinemateq.com under "Support for picture optimizer product family", and can be downloaded for free. You can then install the new firmware via RS-232 with Windows' "Bootloader" programme.
