'Cinema du Look'

I'm currently going through a phase of watching a load of French films from the 80's and 90's. It's been a really refreshing break from all the Hollywood stuff that's for sure.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for films in this kind of era...(?)

So far I've been catching up on the films made by the three directors who started the 'Cinema du Look' movement - Luc Besson, Leos Carax and Jean-Jacques Beineix - but if anyone has any further recommendations I'd be hugely grateful. You know...sexy, complicated women smoking a lot and taking about love and death...that kind of thing...

So far these films have really made me realise just how crap 90% of current mainstream cinema really is.
