Anyone know where it's possible to buy decent cigars at decent prices?
I'm not talking about the Cubans, but nice fat ones.
My Dad's likes the occasional fat cigar and I want to buy him some.

    If you can...

    Buy them abroad.

There are no cheap cigars in this country IMHO. If you go to Spain you can pick up Cuban cigars for a fraction of the cost here. About 5 or 6 years ago I got a box of 25 cuban cigars - Panatella size - for about £25. The retail price in a Manchester cigar emporium was over £100.

Its illegal to buy cigars over the Internet from websites in Spain and the like - despite their claims. see here

I've found the best smokes that I've in the UK have been Villiger Export which are a square section cigar. King Edwards aren't bad either - and they are nice and fat.

But if you want to get hime anything half decent, blag an away day to europe and come back with a few boxes. Holland is very good for cigars as as Spain.

Can't beat Cuban cigars... Went to Cuba a couple of years ago - the savings to be had... :smashin:

Cohiba's are the way forward. Got some friends going to cuba at the end of the month - already got my order of cigars and rum in (rum is even better out there...)

If you/ your dad likes medium/full strength cigars then Cuban really are the only way to go. If he likes light or light/medium then there are a couple of possible other sources - the Dutch cigars are very good in this area (all the tobacco is sourced from cuba or the dom rep but are machine made in the Netherlands)

As others have said - there is no such thing as cheap cigars in the UK and whilst some EU companies are willing to bend the rules and ship to the UK I would not trust that them to buy Cuban cigars given the amount of counterfits that are in circulation - if they are willing to bend the rules one way who's to say they arent willing to bend them in another.

The below is a link to a supplier and has a link to a number of retailers in the UK many of which do mail order. The prices and ranges vary between the suppliers - the Welsh ones tend to be the cheapest but limited ranges, cgars ltd I have found was the best balance of price and range.

http://www.cigars.co.uk/index.php click on the specialists in Havanas link for retailers by area
