Not sure it's been mentioned, but if you use an android device you can cast directly to your sonos play units, as well as GCAs. So no need to use sonos software at all.

No gapless on CCA and the devs say it wont be added. They suggest some crappy pseudo gapless nonsense.

I'm running Spotify through Chromecast which is attached to my AVR. However to log-in I need to enter a 4 digit passcode. Is there any way of bypassing this? It means I have to switch my projector on to display the Chromecast screen so I can read the code. It would be much more convenient if I could just connect without the palaver of needing to get access to the code? Any advice?

It also seems to have over-ridden the native Spotify Connect connectivity...at least with my Android phone anyway. Not sure if that makes much difference in SQ?

Are you using a Chromecast Audio or the video one?

I've not been asked to enter a PIN when using Spotify on my Chromecast Audio (only had it a few days though).

Sound like you are running the Chromecast in guest mode. Run the Chromecast setup and switch off guest mode.

It isn't your CCA, its your wireless. I have my 3 CCAs on an AC1900 router (5GHz) and they are completely stable. When I had them on BT Business Hub3 (802.11n) they were unreliable.

The first thing anyone should do with the BT Home Hub 4 & 5 is to switch off the 5GHz wireless setting that syncs it to 2.4Ghz wireless (SSID sharing), that BT supply enabled by default.

This improves connectivity/discovery issues with many devices (especially UPnP/DLNA supporting ones) and also means you can be sure that the CCA connects to the 5GHz wireless, by giving the 5GHz wireless its own SSID.

Next go to the Home Hub's DHCP Table settings page and make sure every device that's listed is set to always connect using the same IP address. Revisit this page and do the same every time you connect a new (permanent) device on the network.

Yep, I had the same problem (but with Sonos) and switching to CCAs on 5ghz totally sorted it out.

I found that the 2.4ghz band in my area was very crowded and whatever I did, I couldn't get music to play properly. Strangely, streaming 1080p video to my Apple TV was no problem at all on 2.4ghz.

Holy carp, I didn't mean change the devices' IP addreses and certainly not to use the same IP address for every device!

What I meant was to select every device on that list (that is permanent, ie, not a guest on your network), including WiFi ones, so iPads, tablets, phones, etc and make sure its "Always use this IP address" option is set to "Yes".
There should be no need to change the default IP address assigned to the devices by the Home Hub's DHCP server.

I've been doing lots of research this morning and only just found out about the SONOS and this Google Chromecast Audio device over the past day or two. I'm a Spotify Premium user and use it on my PS4 in the living room and my mobile phone and headphones when out and about.

I'm looking to be able to play music from my Spotify play list anywhere in the house.

If I buy this Chromecast Audio device and a speaker, would I be correct in assuming I just plug it into the mains, let it find the home network, and then it will play my Spotify music there and then? If that is the case, can anyone recommend a speaker which will sound OK for <£100?

    Thank you!

Just in case anyone is interested, this works with an iPhone too using AllCast. Although tbh I much prefer the Sonos software :)

How about a bowers & Wilkins used zeppelin off ebay? you won't get better sound for £100, contains like 5 speakers and amps.

Maybe if you are spending £130, you should get a sonos PLAY:1 for £169. Iam really happy with mine.
I get more drop outs with CCA, and sonos is a great all in one speaker, press pause button on top and instant streamed music from where you last paused it, no need to power a control device up.

You could upload your music to google play for free, and stream from there.
