Well, christmas is almost upon us and we'll get the usual pile of traditional TV christmas films - Great Escape, It's a wonderful Life, blah blah blah.

What are your favourite christmas films?

I'd probably go for Muppets Christmas Carol myself..

Well I didn't watch DVDs last year since I got my DVD player for Xmas but I spent practically all day watching my new DVDs and playing Super Mario Sunshine. A really good DVD to watch wiv your mates is American Pie 2. I dunno why but it makes me feel more Christmassy. I also like It's a Wonderful Life and who could forget... The Simpsons Christmas specials! Every Xmas they show every Xmas Simpsons episode and have a new one every year. Hmmm... I think that I might have to buy the Xmas DVD soon...

A great Xmas movie I've not yet found on DVD is "Christmas In Connecticut" (the original '40s version with Barbara Stanwyck - not the remake). Anyone know if it's out there?

I saw Black Christmas in Blockbusters this weekend. Does anyone know if it's a remake, or the original 70's one? I've seen the original: pretty weird film, by all accounts.

That's fine MarkR, each to their own is what I say. But it just wouldn't be christmas without gathering the wife and kids and cat in the lounge on christmas day morning opening our pressies whilst listening to or watching the Exorcist in the background.

It's making me tingly already!!

Just picked up a R1 copy of a great Christmas movie. A 1961 movie called "Pocketful of Miracles", by Frank Capra ("It's A Wonderful Life"). A remake of his own 1933 movie "Lady For A Day" and based on a Damon ("Guys & Dolls") Runyon story, this is a real festive treat.

The 2.35:1 non-anamorphic print is a bit on the grainy side, but to be honest I'm glad to get this seldom seen little gem in any form. A few years ago someone managed to accidentally erase part of it and I haven't found it on TV since, so I was amazed to find it on R1.

    Result! :smashin:

I love it when this kind of thing happens on a forum!

Yup - this was a film I remember watching, while "checking to make sure my presents were wrapped properly". For some reason, I always equate a trail of Smarties with this movie...just me, or is there summink like that in it?
