Christmas discounts

Basically i'm wondering whether waiting a few months for pre/post christmas sales will be worth it?
i'm looking to buy a 32" lcd under £1500, so a sizeable discount would be very nice, but i don't want to wait all that time for just a 10% discount.

any ideas what sort of discounts are available (I'm in London)?

Well bearing mind the Superb Samsung is only £840 delivered with built in freeview - what you waiting for ?

More money doesn't mean better quality as the Samsung proves with it's numerous awards.....

I think the state of the economy in the run up to Christmas will have the largest effect on prices post Christmas, that is if the economic forecasters are anything to go by. At present the UK economy is slowing rapidly with the world economy already having been in the doldrums for some months. What this adds up to is this - if the consumer is out there spending pre-Christmas then forgot the large discounts, if the consumer is not out there, or is spending less and not buying high value items such as LCD and Plasma panels then expect a price war come the New Year. However, for that to happen places like Comet and Currys need to get some new stock in. I don't know whether others have noticed this but both these stores have some real tat in at present. They are retailing lots of old models at ridiculous prices, many of t.v.s they have in stock are not even HD Ready but boy oh boy are they charging HD Ready prices - rip off or what?

Samsung LE32R41B - I think this months home cinema choice is running a 32" LCD group test - Samsung strolls it....even at £1200 they reckon it's the bargain of the decade never mind at £840

Have a read for yourself - opposition none too shoddy either in the test....Hitachi, Toshiba, Panasonic amongst others !!

Dont worry about the X in BDX ...BD is the freeview tuner. The X doesn't mean anything AFAIK. :)

there is overproduction of LCD at the moment, and many brands seem to be doing a basic 'refresh' this year, bunging on HDMI and thats about it.

But when Sky HD launches next year, isn't there the possibility that demand will increase, keeping prices relatively high?

Considering my 30" LCD was £2k about 2 years ago,and that was JL price matching, I think £800 for the same but HD ready is a blooming steal!

Anyone know if anywhere is selling the Samsung with the newer firmware installed?
Is the firmware easy to install if not? I've upgraded a dvd's firmware, but never a tv. No idea how you'd go about it!
Cheers.
