Well - the review site has got to be www.dvdreview.com

As far a "Chopper" goes I saw an article in Empire magazine a while ago but cannot for the life of me remember when its due out, sorry.

PS I'll try & dig out my old copy if it hasn't already been binned.

I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit.....it's the only way to be sure.

The film "Chopper" should be doing the rounds at your local arthouse cinema right now. Some of the bigger Multiplexes may also show it, but it is being shown!

I know it's quite an old release but I borrowed the R2 version off a mate the other night and, for the demo artists amongst us, thought I'd recommend the 'car park' shooting scene and flashback as a great gunshot sound demo.

Almost as good as the gunfight sequences in One Night At McCool's and Heat.

Chopper has been out on R2 for ages.
Many places are now selling it for around £7.99.

The commentary with the 'real' Chopper is well worth a listen.

Blimey - this is an old thread!

I agree with you Nike - the commentary by the man himself is excellent - it definitely adds a lot to the actual film. He is one mad bast**d.

    Sorry for resurrecting it :)

Although with Eric Bana soon to be seen again in The Hulk maybe it's not such a bad thing if this thread entices people to buy/rent 'Chopper'.

I though he did a great job, it's not often you feel a full range of emotions towards one character throughout the course of a 90 minute film.

At first I quite liked the guy, then he seemed funny/intelligent/misunderstood. Then he came over like a right arse/thick/selfish/psychotic.

*Possible spoiler (for the ladies anyway...)*

The scene where he's stood at the bar talking to the cops is hilarious... Boogie Nights eat your heart out!

Not a bad movie this, especially for the £3.50 that I paid for it :D

I thought it was a spoof, but watching the special features, there are interviews with the real Chopper....

So how true to life was the movie then?

Pretty much sticks to the true story - although Chopper claims to have killed at least 10-12 people I think, there's no evidence that he ever killed anyone!!!!

He believed that he had the full backing of the police for the crimes that he did commit - a definite psycho!!

Excellent film, and the extras are good aswell, especially when you get to see the real 'Chopper'.

The books he's written, supposedly non-fiction, are hysterical. It's obvious the guy just can't help himself when it comes to embellishing the tales of his adventures though.
Ace film, and if you like it it's definitely worth finding the books

excellent film, very, very funny. Thought Eric Bana was extremely good (he looked nothing like himself during most of the film). That's a good sign for the Hulk next year!

Also got gangster no1 for £6.99 in the same sale so last night's viewing was slightly violent to say the least.:D

Gangster No.1 is a great movie.

Did you check out the deleted scenes, James? I almost had to turn away at one point

love the film but that deleted scene was SO harsh:eek: ... you could tell through the commentary that the director was a bit sickened that he had created it.
Personally I thought it added even more to the gangster character... this was about the third time I've seen the film and one thing I noticed this time was how unlikely it was that Gangster would have turned into Malcolm McDowell!
