After some deliberation, I think I have narrowed down my choice these 2 models. Cost is about the same when bought from GER (approx 250).

I will be driving a Aegis Evo 3b pack and am interested in both movies and music (dance/rock).

Can anyone help me make my mind up please?

As far as I know the RX-V750 is the better of the two as the 557 is the upgraded version of the RX-V550, which was never that popular.

Personally I would rather look at a different receiver if you are going to use it more in music(stereo) mode than movies. The lower end Yamahas are not so good in stereo mode although they do quite well in HT mode.

Two other receivers you can look at would be Marantz 4500 or 5500 and Cambridge Audio 540R.
