Chevy Chase is our nickname at work for any American colleagues with and irritatingly positive attitude. This has even fallen into common use amongst the other normal US citizens working at our place.

I've never been a fan of Chevy Chase although I appreciate why others may like his humour!

Yeah, considering some of the high-profile garbage that Steve Martin has been in recently, maybe we should be glad that we haven't seen much of Chevy.

In the last two years according to IMDB he was in Zoom, episode of Family Guy playing his Griswold character and Law and Order TV series. Not a lot.

Anyone liked Memoirs of a Invisible Man? It is always on Film 4 at the moment.

Memoirs was the last decent film that Chevy made and one of the last decent films John Carpenter made too.

Memoirs is an incredible film, even better as a sealed bargain of £1.70 off ebay!

I miss the 'old fletch' too. He mad some very funny films .

A lot of decent actors these days (funny or serious) has forced to 'sell his soul' and make trash. Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy, Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd and on the serious side Sam J Jackson, Denzel Washington, John Voight to name but a few are aslo guilty in 'selling out' to the 'popcorn movie'

Sign of the times I guess

One of my favourite Chevy Chase movies (excluding the classic that is Caddyshack) is 'Seems Like Old Times' with Goldie Hawn and Charles Grodin. The picture of his face on the security camera from the bank robbery always cracks me up!

Other favs include 'Foul Play' and 'Funny Farm', and 'Christmas Vacation' is the first movie shown in our house every Christmastime.

The personality, humour and charm that Chase exuded in his heyday has actually made me sit through, and enjoy in some cases (damn him!), some very mediocre movies ('Oh Heavenly Dog', 'Modern Problems' for example). He just has that persona that can (nearly always) make me laugh.

Haven't seen any of his recent stuff though, so can't comment on that.

He was great on the Saturday night live shows, I loved the one when he was reading the news with a female actress who's name I can't remember.

I couldn't believe it when I found out that Cary Grant had sued Chevy Chase for something he had said regarding his private life.

They made a second one? Sacrilege... the first one was a classic. I have such great memories of watching that film with my family!
