I can't work today for thinking about this match, i'd love a 1-1 but i don't think we'll get it. if we can come away only 2-1 down i do think we will turn them over at Anfield. it's gonna be tough tonight that's for sure, we need to score to give us a fighting chance.

Sorry if i sound like i'm not giving us a chance but we have been poor this season. I mean getting beat by a team like palace what the fudge? IanJ are you reading ;)

If Liverpool do turn over Chelsea and make the final, it'll be bad news for Britain. The Pool will have given everything to make the final, but probably won't have enough left in the tank to step up and take the trophy too. :(

Any of you boys going to the game next week? Can't wait! Haven't missed a CL home game this season and am praying that we can do the business tonight so that it's game on for Tuesday! Come on, boys!

I’m really excited about the game too. What doesn’t help is this day is going so slowly.

Anyway I’m going for a first leg draw (1-1). What are your predictions?

I hope liverpool get spanked all over the park.

    1) their players would enjoy it :D

    2) it would mean a 'southern' club can represent England in the final instead of some dirty northerners!!

If that happens someone is going to be very very very unhappy at not playing Champions League football next year.

The sad thing is we went on to win it again the next year, and then in the 83-84 season were knocked out at the semi final stage (we'd already dealt with Celtic) by Anderlecht - lost 3-0 at their place after winning 2-0 at the City ground in the 1st leg. It was so obvious that the referee was dodgy, something should have been done about it at the time but nothing was done.
Then in 1997 the referee admitted to taking bribes before the second leg of the match from Anderlecht (see below)
" UEFA have banned Anderlecht of Belgium from European competition for one year because of bribes a senior club official made to a referee in their UEFA Cup semi-final clash with Nottingham Forest in 1984 - a game they won 3-0 in curious circumstances."
Forest fans have been very bitter about this since that game and I think maybe the great Cloughie was affected by it also.
Edit - sorry I know this is off topic but I'm still mad about it !!

Boro fan meself, looking forward to the TRULY important game going on tonight, tyne-tees derby, couldn't get up there though so will have to watch the dull old champions league ;)

Hehe, just kidding of course, looking forward to the game and will be rooting for the 'pool even if its so they're concentrating on that when we meet them on the run in. Read a great article today on the guardian

    http://football.guardian.co.uk/championsleague200405/story/0,15008,1471123,00.html

    that you may enjoy.

    Cheers

I can't really bring myself to want Liverpool to win after the way they treated us in the replay after Hilsborough. It was always going to be a no win situation for us but we did our best, we collected lots of money for the appeal and sang You'll Never Walk Alone along with the Liverpool fans (which doesn't come easy believe me !!) and the first song they sang was the old "We hate Nottingham Forest". A lot of us never forgrave them for that I'm afraid.
