Went into GAME today to change my unopened copy of GRAW for Burnout Revenge and they told me that, apparently, 360 games are in extremely short supply at the moment and that I got one of the last copies of Burnout and if I wanted any other games such as Elder Scrolls that it's recommended I pre-order.

I was in GAME at 9.15 this morning so how could I have got one of the last copies? And since when were games in short supply? I've always seen plenty of games on the shelves ever since the launch! Is this a cheesy new tactic by GAME to get your name and address?

Who cares. I hate game. They suck. They are over priced. The returns/exchange poilcy changes with each shop you go into and lets not even get into the mess up they made for launch of 360. Steer clear, get your games elsewhere ;)

:D Shame on GAME, they are lame, you must complain and find another chain!!

Only joking, I like GAME. If you have a relevant query you should ask to speak to a Manager to have a word with Head Office. They'll usually sort it out for you.

Please don't let this turn into another GAME bashing thread! :lease:

I was in a Game store yesterday and the manager was complaining that they were not receiving a big allocation of Burnout Revenge (360) - apparently all the pre-orders had been sold...

Local Game in Edinburgh -only- had pre-order copies too so I went to HMV and picked it up off the shelf.
Probably EA put it on allocation and Game nationally got screwed over on their allocation....

They're both the same price for Burnout, only selected games are cheaper. That's EA for you.

My colleague had a similar experience...he enquired about '24 - the game' on PSP & was told that they wont be getting any copies in cos its not a popular game, so he should pre-order it to ensure that get a least 1 copy for him!

Went in there today...suprise, suprise they had a shed load of them!!!!

that's pretty interesting. i was in game (sauchiehall street glasgow) at lunchtime and there were no copies of burnout on display. i was going to ask but i only wanted to have a look at the cover.

it might also explain why it took hmv so long to get fight night 3 out - that was rather bizarre.

My local Game never had Burnout on display either. I had to ask and they got it from under the counter.

Game need to look hard at how their operating and the X360 episode was against trading standards, why anyone shops their now i dont know.
My local store is pathetic, poor uninformed lazy ass part-time students for staff that are constantly telling porkies just like this thread is about.

In comparison take the points system offered by HMV for instance?
Disregarding pre-orders the recently released GRAW was advertised with a big window display in our local Game with "£2.50 OFF YOUR NEXT PURCHASE" Like how lame is that £2.50 off and not even untill the next purchase. So i used my vouchers from HMV since buying the X360 and got £20 off Fight Night / Graw. Even had enough points accumulated for a free memory card. That was a nice £40 saved and more points still accumulated to boot.

Within 1-2 years we could be buying and downloading our games all through Live getting them direct and paying less anyways.
EA spoke of this recently too, funny and their the biggest publisher going, so where does that leave stores like Game?

I went into Game today to get Burnout, they were selling it like all their games for £49. I then went into Tesco Extra and they were selling it for £39.97.

Why would you buy it from Game ? How do places like Gamestation and Game get away with selling games at that price ?:nono:

This has been discussed before and Tesco can get away with selling them at near enough cost price as they have alot of other area's to earn money from where as Game and Gamestation dont and have to earn money from the games.

I went to GAME at The Fort, Edinburgh, and swapped FN3 (10 day return) they were well peed off, as they only got 8 copies of Burnout.

Game seemed alright 6 years or so ago but since they merged with EB they became awful and seem to think they can get away with anything

As you say it probably has been discussed before, but surely if their games were cheaper more people would buy from there ? Or is it that they know that people are more likely to buy from them because they are a 'Games Shop' so they can make more profits.:thumbsdow

I cant' believe though that the cost price of a game is near £40. Anybody know how much Game and Gamestation pay for them ?
No wonder Tesco are taking over the high street.

Stores like Game wont have much of a future. More than half of people in the UK are connected to Broadband and you can expect most of them to consider online shopping. Once they see the prices online, GAME will be forgotten. And GAME know this, i see no solution as to what they could do.

The Internet is the future, especially when its cheaper (wait..that rhymes doesn't it? )
