As it says on the tin!
I dropped the lights way down in the room & using my new toy (1/8 honl grid - highly recommended :smashin:) I backed the power right off on the flash & created a small pool of light on the subject.

Shot raw, opened in lightroom, converted to b&w & pushed the clarity a little.
Then in CS3, dodged & burnt my friends face to make him look a more craggy (he’ll kill me! :rotfl:), cropped to 10 x 8" & resized for competition adding a small white border. Finally sharpened.

As ever, C&C most welcome.

I like it Mart, especially the focus of light on the action and duller light on the face- nicely PP'd

Fab shot Mart. It is almost the rule that every photo competition must contain at least one photo of a chess set and here it is! But it is a lovely shot.

Being picky, I'm not sure if the reflections add anything, I'd have been tempted to move the lens up slightly to put the chess board at the bottom of the frame and have more of your mate in.
