Check An Electricians NICEIC Credentials

I'm selling a house and the buyer wanted an Electrical Survey which got done last night. However everyone (us, our estate agent, our solicitor and the developer that we are buying from) is of the opinion that the person who came round was the buyers brother who gave a false surname. He made a call (walked completly out of ear shot) half way through the survey then said he didn't need to finish it as it need's rewiring.

Therefore does anyone know if there is a way of checking NICEIC credentials? If so could you please point me to the right place?

Thanks

You can find out if an electrician is a member of NICEIC by checking on www.niceicgroup.com or calling 0870 013 0382.

Part P does not cover Periodic Inspections, therefore the person carrying out the inspection only needs to be competent.
If you think something underhand has gone on, get your own inspection done.

We are getting our own quotes as he admitted that he wasn't a money man and guessed at £3000 and that the buyers have latched onto that. The buyers are also starting to back track since all of this has been brought out.

The are still the cartridge fuses so that is why a rewire was recommended but it passed the live/neutral test and was deemed safe.
