Just looking at getting away from the all in one Sony i have at the moment.

Looking at gettings some decent speakers (eg B&W 601 S3) but think i'll need a beafier amp which means i'd need new cd and tuner too

So basically whats the cheapest i can get but still be suitable? Should be compact and all from the same manufacturer so they look right

    Thanks
    Ben

    try cambridge audio...great, and cheap!

they've got a new range of amps and cdp coming out (see this months what hifi sound and vision) - therefor you can wait for them, or no doubt when the new models do come out the older ones will be cheaper...

Just looked on richersounds, anywhere else that has a better selection of cambridge audio? Surely they do a non DAB tuner?

Richer Sounds is the sole UK distributor of the Cambridge line and they do not take absolutely everything we do. I am afraid that this includes our FM/AM only 340T.

Ben get thyself onto Ebay and consider some separates kit from the follwing ranges :

Sony ES & Denons 1500 range. Im thinking here of their champagne finished kit.

A Sony TAF-30-ES will set you back £100, this is a stunning 80W amp, built like a battleship and has more facilities than you can shake a stick at. I paid £65 for mine off ebay. Sony ES amps are whats called “well kept secrets” in hifi terms. Also the Denon PM-1500R is another sub £200 bargain that you sometimes see. Here is the Sony ES amp in location with a Pioneer DVD player and a Denon 1500 tuner. :

Tuner wise your looking for a Sony STA3-ES or a Denon TU-1500-RD again sub £100. Both available in gold :

CD players well again there are CDPs on Ebay from both of the ranges above, ie ES or 1500, you just have to keep an eye open.

Nice kit the CA stuff, but you can buy kit on Ebay that is at another level. And cheaper.

yeah, if you're willing to go 2nd hand, then there are some great bargains to be had...but you will have less luck getting all the kit from the same manufacturer tho I think...
