I am looking to buy a Sony VPL-HS10 and so far the lowest price that I have found is around £2100. Does anyone know where I may be able to buy for less than this?

Also, I assume that buying from a highstreet specialist will cost me more, but may give some added piece of mind. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Finally, I read somewhere about 'dead pixels'. What is the general feeling about the likelyhood of this being seen on the Sony and how easy is it to get the store/retailer to mend or replace?

Dont worry about a High Street specialist, go to Nexnix, you cannot beat there customer service and a good price too.

The HS10 can be bought cheaper from Japan but with the possibility of a failure problem existing (mine is one of a couple being swopped Monday by Nexnix after two months instead of sending it for repair:) good on them). I glad I paid a little extra and bought it here.

Should add Nexnix will do a dead pixel check for £20.

I ordered the HS10 from Nexnix by phone (so I could get them to do a dead pixel check) Monday morning and picked it up from their wharehouse/offce in the afternoon.

Tried it out yesterday with my PC (via DVI) and DVD Player (S-Video) and all I can say is [insert swear word of choice] awesome!

When using the PC the picture appears as sharp as my LCD monitor (both running at XGA resolution) but 80 inches across!

Geometry appears perfect (unlike my widescreen TV) and I cannot see the 'chicken wire' effect unless I get really close.

Now all I need is an AV amp, speakers, ...
