You'll need to call Pioneer GB and apply to become a dealer if you want one at that price :)

Some mad bunch did do a few at £3.1K a while ago - but took months to delver and I'm guessing they wont be repeating that 'money spinning' exercise for a while.

    Best regards

Assuming this doesn't break any forum rules but...

    £3400
Richer Sounds latest catalogue - no comment or responce on 5002 video card.
www.prcdirect.co.uk - no understanding of concept of 5002 video card!

    £3500
Sevenoaks (Swiss Cottage) - confused by talk of 5002 video card. Also rude, ignorant and self important staff (unlike Holborn branch).
www.leconcepts.com - inc. 5002 and free Grundig tuner, +£50 del.
    www.tmfsolutions.co.uk - inc. 5002, +£30 del.
    www.nexnix.co.uk - don't konw on 5002 (and haven't asked), +£10 del.

If you find a better deal, a good retailer you don't need a car to get to, or an easy way to pick between the Pio. and the Panny, let me know! ^_^

www.upgradeheaven.co.uk - did me the screen (in silver!), the 5002 video card and a wall mount for £3,500. But you need to contact the main man, Justin, and have a natter.

WARNING - re upgradeheaven.co.uk See comments re company known as HCH in amplifier threads relating to Marantz SR-7200.

They do not appear to have been as helpful as I would like when a unit had what I would describe as a 'design fault'.
One person had to accept a 20% reduction to return the amplifier that hissed.

Some retailers would treat you better than this, regardless of distance selling regulations.

Sorry to distract the thread. (Anyway I preferred the panasonic-6 !!).

    Steve.

yea the Pana series 6 was almost as good as the Pioneer 43. But I won't be getting one until end of august. And the price difference might not justify the slight quality improvement of the Pioneer over the Panasonic. So might end up with Series 6 after all.. But then again I can't really go wrong with these 2 can I? Both best makes..

    Damox,
I agree totally, both very good screens. (until the 4th Gen pioneer!!!).
Each person has different requirements. I find the pioneer to not look quite as good at quite a short distance.
IMO the HD screens look better from slightly further away than I will be sitting.

Easy2BCheesy, Can you confirm your 433MXE is in a silver frame? No one else seems to do them. Is it a UK version?

The Pioneer PDP-433MXES (Silver) has only just been release (fairly limited stock) and any dealers that are not big Pioneer sellers may not be aware of its existence.

The units arrive in as standard Charcoal units and then the bezels are swapped by Pioneer UK.

    Best regards

Steve 36, thats an interesting point.

Most people who argue against HD displays seem to think that you can only tell the difference in PQ from nearer distances (due to the higher pixel count making the pixels less obvious)..... Just goes to show how everyones perception differs

    Joe,

    Have you noticed ???

I have a higher trader rating than you, all I had to do was sell a Sound Style AV Rack !! :D

NB - The Better Cables VGA is fantastic with the Lumagen to the panel, it really tidy's up the all ready fantastic PQ, far better than what I was using, highly recommeded. :smashin:

You might find that the new PIOs, which are expected soon, cause the price to drop on the existing models (as happened with the Panny 5).

I am saving my money for the PIO 434 HDE, just hope it doesnt disappoint.

Joe F, any news on when you expect to take delivery of the 434? Please say this month...

I agree, though I think it will be less 'accross the board' with the Pioneers.

Reason is the 433MXE is a completely different beast to the existing 433-HDE, and in fact has loads common with the 434-HDE (ie 10 Bit Video processing). Though you would expect the 4th Generation panel to offer improvements (apparently black level has been enhanced).

The current MXE also has the advantage of not being limited to a Tuner for connectivity. This feature allows for third party develped input cards (ie Key Digital PIO768 card). Some would consider this a bonus.

Finally, the MXE is not due to be replaced until March 2004 (at the earliest by last reports). So I think realistically any price drops will be on the Pioneer PDP433HDE's.

The retailer I spoke to said a price drop on the Pio's was un-likely, but there would be things like a deal (already running) for free speakers with the MXE, etc.

    Buggers! ^_^

    Hello all

Tbrar - top trader; if you sell your old VGA cable you can double your tally :)

/\/\j17 - current 433HDE 'packages' are available with speakers and pedestals but nothing on MXE; unless your dealer plays around with the bits and pieces they purchase with an HDE.

Mike - we can but hope!

    Best regards

    Joe

Don't know what they were doing... appart from giving me a good demo of the Panny and Fujitsu screens and a ****ty one of the Pio. HDE... all running off the same video feed, two via VGA, and the Pio. via composit!

Don't suppose you are opening a Media Factory in London any time soon are you! ^_^
