    Hi Jamie,

AFAIK, the cheapest DECENT pal/ntsc prog. scan is the Sony 930 (I think that's the model no. but I might be mistaken). It tends to go for around £250 if not cheaper. It also boasts SACD and Sony's QS components. I've seen it operating and for the money, it's a corker.

As for cables, I use 3 x QED's Silver Reference SR75 0.5 mts (obviously, the shorter the better). PQ is awesome on my Panny prog. scan CRT (sorry, no idea on projector's etc.)

    All the best,

There are loads cheaper than £250 but many are rubbish. There are 4 different ways of deinterlacing prog scan along with many other variables. Prog scan done badly is worse than any half decent interlaced only. The Yamaha s540 might be worth a look at around £120. Mixed reports on it, recent thread going on it in DVD Players forum as I type. £250 can certainly get you a good one HK DVD25 (or 2550 silver) is a cracker.

    cheers
