Seen this for £50 from Amazon:

Medion MD40814 DivX Multi-region DVD player

Looking for something for my son's bedroom; he's only 3 and tends to get fingerprints all over his (my) Disney DVDs. I was thinking of getting one of these so I could give him some DivX on CD-Rs to play with instead of the originals.

Any other options? I only want to spend the minimum because I don't expect it to last more than a year (bearing in mind the abuse it's likely to get!)

cheapest decent branded one is the Toshiba SD340 by the way. Do a hunt and i'm sure you'll find it for £80. Will blast the Medion in every way and it'll last longer but its another 30 squid.

Toshiba doesn't appear to support SVCD - at least according to the owner's manual on Toshiba's site.

ROZZAR - thanks for the tosh info - just looked it up on their site - it does mention divx and wma , as you said !

Q1 )divx - does it have to be upgradable e.g. via cd for new divx versions ?

Q2) will this essentially play everything off my pc and save lots of converting ?

    thanks
