I want to maximise the use of my new Pioneer 434HDE plasma screen by buying a HDMI DVD player, but I don't want to spend nearly £800-£1k on the DV79 or 868.
Can anyone advise when the volume manufacturers are releasing HDMI players to the UK market.

    Cheers

I had exactly the same dilemma a few months ago! I chose the Yamakawa as a stop gap solution until cheaper/better HDMI equiped plays came along.

Very pleased with my choice though digital connection, best picture I have seen through my 434 and plays Divx too.

Just bought a HDMI to DVI cable for £24.00 to get it all going!

only $200  what is the likelyhood of it ever reaching R.O.B. for a smidge over £100

the Pioneer DV668 is £600 if that helps and there is such a thing as a bad HDMI, the connection type is not the only thing that will dictate picture quality

I demoed the Pioneer 868 today via a HDMI cable & I have to say that yes the picture was good it was not £1k good.
I think I will wait for cheaper options to come on the market.
Honestly, if it was £400 I would have snapped his hand off, but at £1k certainly not.
