The film society I belong to wants a new screen minimum 8ft.
Either pull down or floor based.

Needs to be cheap. Have seen walter stewart. Any others that anyone knows of.

Will a fixed screen be viable? A wooden frame with blackout cloth or screen material stretched and stapled over it will be very light, and can be taken down and stored when not in use (if enough space to store it is available of course.

Many of us here have made screens that way.

No a fixed screen isnt viable im afraid.

There are two options. We hire a venue. Said venue may go halves on a fixed screen. Ive seen 92 inchers for about £240 so that would be cheapest option. If we changed venue next year then this kind of cost can easily be written off.

The other option is the floor based one. This im assuming would be more expensive but has the advantage that we can move it to a new location should the society change venues or we do a special.

the screen will be used with an LCD projector and gets used 14 times a year.

The society currently has pne which is a rolled screen stretched onto a frame. Its ages old and turning into a health hazard. Its size goes up to 12 foot but we use it at 8foot.

Im assuming that the walters website is as cheap as ill get for pull down.

Just wondering where I can get a cheap floor based screen
