Cheap remote control

Hi,
My Thomson freeview box (DT1000) remote has annoyed me for the last time, it is time to get a replacement.
Can anyone recommend a cheap remote that will work 100% with the Thomson?

Due to the unpredictable nature of the existing remote, I don't want to get a 'learning' one (face to face button pushing etc).

Argos have a Kameleon 4 way for £39, is that any good? - how is that programmed?

Alternatively, I could try to programme my Sony TV remote assuming I find out the code for the Thomson.

any suggestions? - Decent battery life or rechargable remote is a must.

Many thanks.

thanks,
the thing is, the thompson remote has proved to be such pain (it often decides to go into standby when pressing any button in the top half of the remote) that I want to avoid replacing it with an identical model if I can.

I'll see if I have the code in my TV manual for the Thomson, if so I'll try to program one of the 2 spare functions on that (DVD/VCR). Unless anyone can recommend a nice alternative.
