    Hi all,

Very very long time since i’ve posted on here but i’m need of some advice. Recently moved house and old owners left a set of LG 5.1 speakers behind, specifically LG HT503SH-DH. They are cheap and cheerful but did the job, and previous owners did a decent job of hiding the cabling.

Whilst watching TV last week, speakers suddenly cut out. I’ve tried everything to get them working again, but no luck. The control unit (basically a DVD player) powers up and everything but I cannot get any sound, even through the test function.

My question is, given the 5 speakers/cabling is well installed, can i simply replace the control unit with an AV receiver? Or how else can I make use of the existing speakers or should I just start from scratch?

Thanks in advance for your help. We’re in the process of getting a new TV so may just replace the lot!
