Total newbie to the DVDR thing.
Buying a Toshiba LCD so want a new Progressive scan DVDR to go with it. Don't know much about DVDR's really so after some advice from the experts!
Not really bothered about and internal hard drive
Spending way to much on a telly so DVDR kinda has to be as cheap as possible says Mrs Tonester.

    Any help please!!!!

Panasonic E55 or E65 have progressive scan and can record on either DVD-RAM or the more universally compatible DVD-R. They are availabvle for around £170-199. Check out richersounds website for the multi-region models.

Thanks Ryu, do you know whether these models have a hdmi input?
Esentially I'm buying an new HD ready Toshiba LCD and it has an HDMI input and the fellas on the LCD forum seem to suggest a DVDR with progressive scan and a HDMI input is the way to go.
Like I say I'm just after some wise words from the people in the know so I get a DVDR which will make the best of my New TV.
Basically I want to use it as a player/recorder and thats about it. No camcorder editing or linking to my PC or any of that other stuff - just good picture quality for the LCD.
Will the models you suggest fill all those catagories?

Sorry to be a pain....forgot to mention I use my current player as an amp too so need summit with dolby pro logic as well.
so to reiterate I'm looking for a recorder with the following requirements...

    Progressive Scan
    HDMI
    Dolby 5.1 outputs
Half decent hard disk (would be nice)
    Multi region (would be nice)
Able to player every type of disc under the sun!
