I'm looking for a freeview box to use with a DAC I'm getting :D - mainly for use to listen to radio, and my TV isn't particularly good, so I'm not so fussed about pic quality. I'd basically like one with a digital output, and preferably an LCD display; being good at picking up a signal is also obviously helpful (the signal's not bad where I am, but not the best) and reasonably reliable firmware would also naturally be nice; 2 scarts sockets, so I can run my DVD through this, would be good. Cheap, of course, is also good - I have just bought a DAC ;) Any suggestions?

    TIA,

    Jon

    www.iplayer.co.uk

Has Optical Digital Out and can stream MP3's from the Net or your PC.

I'm listening to Music One from the Internet via my Hi-Fi/iPlayer as I write this.

    :)

Cheers Wayne, but don't think I'd get round to connecting it to my PC (I'd need to drill holes in the wall etc...)

I've noticed the Hauppage DEC 1100T is going cheap - anyone tried using this?

The iPlayer can use Wireless Broadband if you're still interested.

Thanks - I'm sure it's a decent box, but I really don't think I'd use it with my PC much and setting up a wireless network frankly seems like to much effort...

Jon, forget about hooking it up to your PC, the iplayer has excellent sound quality, I know.

For the past couple of months I've been using a digifusion digibox and been wondering why it’s been sounding so cr*p in 2 channel and also in prologic, there was a total lack of bass on all channels. Switched to the iplayer this weekend and WOW! What a difference.

    Great box!

Thanks for the suggestions, but I use my PC for web access and don't think I'd use most of the features on the iplayer tbh.

Check my sig, I also don't use any of the extra features of the iplayer as I also use a pc for web access.

Again I/we can recommend the Iplayer just on it's picture and sound quality.

Again I will explain, I used to use a digifusion which is a standard stb, it was replaced with the iplayer because of it's superior picture and sound quality.
