    Hi all

Just a speculative question really what are the chances of me getting a very cheap CRT to start me off. Just want something that I can set up and see if I`m in to this etc.

And if so how much will it be. Could be pushing my luck really but would like it to output 16:9 and from my PC!!

    Many Thanks

    Nathan

£500 to £1k should be plenty for a beginner CRT.

Give Roland (B4 Proejction) a buzz to see what he may have...

Try and get a simple 7" data PJ like a Sony1250 or such like. It'll do ana squeeze and is easy to learn to set up on.

    All the best,

    Gordon

I was going to ask the same Question How much to get started with a CRT Projector Including Set Up.

Im hoping to convert a Workshop into a Bedsit for myself So I'll want ro fix the projector to the (Iron) roof beams before fitting the ceiling.

The room will be 17 ft by 14 Ft so it sould be Ideal And I have a PC Building a HTPC to run it.

Im thinking a Budget of £1500-£2000 inc fitting ?

Peter recon on a 7ft wide screen for a "budget projector" any thing wider and the brightness will suffer.
just for rough calculations the PJ should be about 3 to 3.5 meters from the screen point.

I paid £500 for a Barco 800 pointing at a 1m80 wide home made screen and am delighted with it.
If I knew then what I know now, all Id change would be to get it from one of the dealers on here.
A pc optimised for quietnes and smallness rather than speed was about £350, and a second hand videologic sound system - the only part I want to change now.
At these prices odd things become expensive - I have about £100 worth of cables, despite my best efforts, and Ive just hired a genie lift to get the proj finally onto the ceiling at almost another £100.
Best of luck - hope you enjoy it as much as I have

Four friends and the offer of a film viewing with as much beer as tehy can drink works well too. (depending on your friends comes out less than £100)
