Kicking around in my spares box, I've got 3 or 4 Cambridge Audio Scart to 6 phono cables (wired as composite in/out and audio in/out). They're 75 ohm, and they look like decent quality to me.

Now I'm looking at buying a Scart->YUV component cable, to connect my Netgem freeview box using component signals.

Is there any reason why I can't just open up the Scart connector on one of my existing cables, and change the pinout so that it works as a component cable? It would be much cheaper than buying a new cable. Or is there something I'm forgetting?
