I remember reading somewhere, though i thought it was on here, that you can buy aftermarket fans etc for the 360, and that thay do actually work. Now with my warranty being up, I thought it might be worh ripping the thing apart to make it a little quieter when watching movies. It's not been a problem before, but I've had to move things around and the 360 is now closer, so more audible.

    Cheers

I would avoid the purpose made aftermarket fans for the 360 and buy your own from the likes of quietpc.com. Have a look at the spec of the fans on there, way better, shift more air (CFM) and are really quiet in noise (db) unlike those 360 fans.

You can also fit another silent fan on the opposite side of the fan tunnel, attached to the cpu heatsink to blow directly through it into the tunnel to vastly help with cooling.

You should be able to make it near silent at dashboard.

Not yet, waiting for warranty to expire shortly. Used them lots of times building HTPC's & regular flavour PC's too. The silent fans are very quiet.

Is there anymore info on the fan sizes and suggested replacements etc?.
I dont like the look of those bolt on coolers, much prefer to change the fans already in it too.

I was thinking of putting my 360 and HD-DVD in the next room, and running cables through the wall to the AV and LCD.
Will the wireless controller work ok if the 360 is in the next room? (just the other side of the wall from TV)
