Challenge to find best value Comet Laptop...

Hello,

My gf wants to buy a laptop but with her love2shop vouchers which pretty much means one from comet unfortunately. Does anyone have any advice as to which one is the best value?

up to £350
standard size
general use really, office work/browsing/some editing photos etc.

I've been looking at these...
Laptops | Laptops | Buy Online from Comet

Hp-XP270EA/ABE
Toshiba C660-19E
Compaq CG56-111SA
Acer AS5336

Are there any manufacturers to avoid?

Many thanks for any advice.

HP is the one to stay away from

by that measure only them? you do realise, that Compaq laptops for the consumer market are now just re-badged lower-end HP laptops? think of it like the 'HP Value' range

anyway, spec-wise, the HP more or less trumps the rest. Saying that, last summer(ish), my older sister purchased a HP G62. While she is more or less happy with it, the build leaves a lot to be desired for, the feet have fallen off (due to the HP's terrible heat dissipation it melted the glue sticking the feet!) and it now creaks a bit when opening and closing. Aside from those bug bears, you get what you pay for (in her case £349.99), cheap'n'cheerful computing that will do the job.

So while many on these boards know I am a fan of Toshiba (mainly for their reliabilty) out of the lot you posted, I would get the HP

Saying that, if you are willing to use up your entire budget (£350) I would opt for this Lenovo http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Laptops/buy-LENOVO-G560-Laptop/718262 for £349.99.

Thus in short, if it has to be out of the 4 you posted, the HP. If not, DC's top tip is the Lenovo :smashin:

HTH

Lenovo and Toshiba always used to be excellent.

I too would avoid HP (and possibly Compaq). There's no point having a 'better spec' for less money if it breaks just after the 12 month warranty is up.

Thanks for the advice guys. Think the Lenovo is looking favourite - it doesn't seem a bad price whereas i can get a similar HP one from HP refurb for £280

Lol, true hence why I said HP if it has to be (with the italic emphasis) from the original 4 posted. But yeah, overall IMHO, the Lenovo is the best value
