Im getting a Canon IXOS 500 soon, im getting it with a free 128MB card from comet, its an IT Works 56905D/CF/0128 for £285. They also have some of the Sandisk Ultra II's which i was looking at as an extra one too.

I would get either the 256MB IT works card for £60 or one of these 256MB Sandisk Ultra II's for £55. There also is normal Sandisk 256MB cards for £42.

What are the Speed and Reliability like of these cards?
Which one would be best for me with the camera?

    Thanks,
    Stuart.

(PS:: I know i can get things cheeper on the web but im getting it from comet cos i work there so get staff discount; and i dont like the idea of £300 in my pocket without ex. warranty etc.)

That's way to much for a 256 card mate. The above will do you just as well, and you can get the 500 for £245 off amazon, frankly you're paying to much (is to £285 with your staff discount)

One thing to think about when you're buying ultra fast cards that write at 80x, is i doubt that the 500 can write to the card faster then 20x, so your paying £50 for a card that outstrips your cameras write speed. You simply dont need a card like that for the 500 (i've had the ixus 400 and i have a canon S1)

It's your choice mate, but you'd be over spending if you pay that much

If you give me your addy i'll send you have a voucher for a free 128mb card;) as the link seems to be down on the forum

No :( I got my memory card and reader on Monday - Pixmania site says my order is in stock and 'being prepared' it is at the dispatch platfomr as we speak, been there since 11 last night. I paid an extra £19 for next day before 12pm delivery too!
I hope it's here before the weekend. My 'photographer type Aunty' is coming and I wanted to let her have a go.

I know. They are coming from Paris though - if it gets dispatched today it will be here in the morning. Realistically though, Im thinking Friday morning. I want to at least look like I know what I'm doing before my Aunty gets here ;)
DHL are usually pretty good once they get hold of the parcel from Pixmania.

Well I know how to use my Olympus in Manual - I don't usually bother with the other settings, like night, potrait etc.
I have read them manual - twice! If all else fails I'll stick it on Auto

Anyway, shes got a C-750 - she doesn't even know I had the C-765. I only see her about 3 times a year - shes coming with my nan to give me my birthday stuff

My Aunty has used film cameras for years. She sells her images and they get used on calendars and greeting cards and stuff.

The AV is just aperture priority, and TV is shutter priority. Pretty handy
