I've got the Mission M7C2 - should I set the centre speaker to small or large? What is the criteria for small/large on a centre?

    Cheers,

Set to small if the speaker can't handle the full range frequencies.

Set to large if the speaker can handle the full range frequencies.

Forget what the figures are for what they class full range, something like 20Hz > 40KHz I think.

As you speaker is rated at 70Hz I would set to small.

not disagreeing with Bob here, but this is one I went straight to Mission about.

Prakash, when of their tech/customer support guys advised that my centre the older M7c1 andthe M7ds rears could both be set to large as long as I am not watching at reference level. As domestic use only this should be ok.

However, he also advised that if I wnated to set to small annd set LFE at 70hz asa they drop this low, which apparently is lower than mid-range, heading towards bass levels.

As I presently dont own a sub I have mine set to large and all 3 speakers seem fine.

    Captain Benefit.

You can set the speaker to large or small I don't see what difference that makes to playing at reference level TBH. Must be Mission talk. :D

Setting to large or small depends on what system set up you have.

Mate - there are numerous trains of thought on this. I say: try it both ways!!

If you simply cannot tell the difference then just pick one and stick with it. I personally have my centre set to 'Small', even though it can probably chug down to about 50Hz.

Try it both ways, and like the lollipop - suck it and see.

    Thanks for the tips.

I've got a sub so I'll leave it on small. It sounds good to me but as the centre (M7C2) fronts (M72s) and sub (REL Quake) are all new it's hard to find the right settings for everything at the moment. Just when I think I've got it right and go to bed happy, I end up fiddling and finding better settings the next day!

...and I just bet if you go back to the old settings in a week you'll find them better still!! Do not mistake 'different' with 'better'.

    Here endeth the lesson!

I have a Mission M7c2 and have it set to small, I don't think sending it bass and LFE information is a good idea.
