My centre speaker causes some disturbance on the screen eg during Matrix Ch29 at over half volume.

How can I improve magnetic shielding?

    Thanks

    Hi Martin
Is it colour staining or the picture distorting my monitor audio centre used to make the picture wobble at the edges when turned up to high volumes try isolating with thicker blu tack did help slightly.
    Cheers Gonzo.

    Picture wobbling along the top

I put some balsa between which helped a little

However the speaker has grown a load of paper weights and a clock.

I might try some rubber or foam strip then.

No colours out - so you think it is vibration based?

    Mainly noticable with 2.35:1

The only effective way, short of adding shielding around the magnets inside,is to add distance between the speaker and the TV,and remember that the damage can be very difficult to rectify if exposure isnt reduced quickly.
My previous Linns(Keltiks, and not shielded)could distort the picture on a CRT at 1 metre...blutak and balsa wont attenuate magnetic activity other than by increasing distance.

I don't know if it is magnetic or vibration!

If it's magnetic the image will likely show large areas tinted green or red. It literally looks as if the image is being dragged towards the speaker.

From what you've described (wobbling picture, and improvements by isolating the speaker) it's probably due to vibrations.

Have the speaker on as you usually would, and lift it just so the feet are off where it usually rests (so you're taking the weight, but not increasing the distance). This should eliminate any vibration interference, giving you the definitive answer to come back here for more advice with :)

You might like to invest in a centre speaker stand.

Go to www.cpc.co.uk and search for "ST0074566"

It is cheap enough to try anyway.

Get some ear plugs too. Holding a speaker in front of your face during Chapter 29 is very brave! :D
