Does it make any difference if the centre speaker is stood up instead of laid flat as most people seem to do.The speaker has a central tweeter with a woofer either side.Is their a problem with this set up.Any disadvantage sonically.
    Thanks in advance.

    Shouldn't make any difference.
Most people just put them flat because it's more convenient. All the center speakers I've had came with removable feet so you could have them either way up.

Historically all centre speakers where just a single main speaker i.e. a stood up rectagle.

However as av took off, people wanted a more pratical approach because having a tall speaker on top of the tele looks a bit stupid and so the horizontal speaker was bourne.

To answer your question either way should work fine, however to ensure the best sound all your main speakers tweaters should ideally be at the same level but it isn't that important.

p.s. if they aren't the best way around it is to ensure that all the tweaters hit your listening position at the same height and to angle the centre as required to ensure this and then adjust the distance measurements within the av amp.
