    Having looked around the forum to try and answer my questions, I now need advice on my specific speaker setup....

    The configuration:
    I have recently upgraded from a 37" Sony rear projector to a Pioneer 433MXE plasma screen. The centre speaker is a Boston Acoustics Micro90c. This speaker used to sit immediately in front of the Sony RP, on top of an AV stand, in the corner of a room.

    The problem:
    As the Sony screen had built in speakers under the screen area, the screen sat considerably higher than the Pioneer plasma, and there was no obstruction of the picture. The Pioneer sits on the supplied feet, and therefore has only 7.5cm space between the stand and the screen area. The AV stand is already full with equipment, and there is no room for the speaker on the lower shelves.

    The question(s):
    1. I have been advised that I could place the speaker BEHIND the screen or the stand, and there would be little loss of sound quality. Are there likely to be any adverse effects to the screen in this setup, apart from the obvious sound issues?
    2. If I decided to buy a replacement centre speaker, are there any others out there that would be short enough to go in front of the screen, that wouldn't get in the way of the picture? (The only one I can find is the Bose VSC10 @ 8.2cm)
    3. Alternatively, can anyone suggest any other possible solutions?

    Sorry for such a long post !!

    Sticking speaker cable into a dog turd will produce better sound than the Bose centre. Don't do it!

    Can you wall mount the speaker just above the Plasma? That should sound better than placing the centre behing the screen (yuk)

    Nathan,

    Unfortunately, the plasma sits on an AV stand in the corner of the room, which means that there isn't a suitable wall behind the screen :(

    Can you do them as framed prints? My walls are bare and that is the kind of art I'm talking about. How much would you be looking to charge?

    An obvious answer would be to put up a shelf in the corner of the room above the plasma and sit the speaker on it. Even if the shelf doesn't project out as far as the screen it shouldnt matter, just increase the volume of the centre channel.
    I would draw a picture but my artistic skills are not up to nathans.
