Hello, Ive acquired a pair of Celestion G12H-100 Drivers, bought on a whim and initially I intended to use them in a DIY hifi subwoofer, however I've changed my mind.

Can anyone comment on them please?, are they meant for a guitar cabinet or whatever, do they have any value and would a domestic application be viable

They are the 8 ohm versions.

Many thanks

Paul

Yep these are guitar speakers probably came out of a half stack 4x12 Marshall cab.

Most guitar speakers sound pretty nasal as guitars work in a narrow mid range so 100w may not sound loud but given 8x30 was the classic stack 2 of these in theory would be near enough the same.

This model was fuller range so may sound okay for other uses but my guess is they won't compete with hifi speakers at low volumes it's not what they were designed for. Checking ebay they go for 15-40 quid, not great as guitarist want lower watt speakers that breakup for smaller venues now a days as larger venues use PAs.
