Hi Guys,

It is that time of year again and CEDIA is rapidly approaching. I am interested to hear why you are heading along this year and if there are any specific things that you are hoping to see.

T+W are exhibiting again this year but we have taken much larger space this year to allow us to show off a system very similar to the one in our video at http://tv.aforum.com.

This year sees the launch of the new Home Cinema Design Specialist training, and having been involved a lot in the development of this so far, I am keen to see how it will be received.

I think it will be interesting to see how the show stacks up this year. ISE is rapidly becoming the main European show for our industry but I think the Expo is still important for the UK business.

Hello Neil

Like you were Exhibiting this year (Stand J2)- missed it last year; though 2006 was quite successful for us.

Slightly different tack this year as were bringing along a couple of New Product Lines aimed at the 'Installers' - http://www.lsdinc.com and http://www.magnepull.com

Joe

Sure could have done with that magnapull a few hundred times!!!

Might try and pick one up when in the states in a few weeks for the upcoming work. :smashin:

Yeah I think you better drop me a note on that magnepull, looks like great fun! I mean it looks like a serious solution to a real problem....

OK it looks like fun :D

Hi Liam

I've had a few of the local Install boys giving it a go - so far they have all made a purchase; it wont work in every situation but is a good addition to your tool kit.

Joe

Ordered. As I said in my email, my job in Jersey next week is on a stud wall that was built about 6" off the main wall in a garage conversion. I need to pull up cabling for in-ceiling screen, projector, and 4 surround speakers. This should save on a couple of holes in the wall!! Should be a good test

That should be a good test for it.

Let us know how you get on Liam, will be interested in the results.

Hi Guys,

This year sees the launch of the new Home Cinema Design Specialist training, and having been involved a lot in the development of this so far, I am keen to see how it will be received.

As it happens I am doing the third one in the series about room design ESD27.
Will this touch on the acoustics of the room and video side of things?

Have you got any tit bits you can give me before I go down?

Also I take it I should be able to do the other 3 later in the year?

Cheers

Danny

Hi Danny,

ESD27 will touch on video and audio topics but only as they relate to the design of the physical cinema room. The idea of the course is to do the detailed audio and video system design training (ESD25 and ESD26 respectively) then the room design (ESD27). The workshop (ESD28) is optional but probably useful I would have thought. Floyd Toole is presenting ESD25, my colleague Bruno is presenting ESD26 and Geoff Meads from Arcam is doing ESD27.

If you haven't done it yet then you will need to do the pre-test before the 20th of May if you intend to do the certification exam.

As to tips - sorry, my lips are sealed ;)

I am not doing the other 2 first or the workshop, I havent got enough time, is it even worth me doing the room design then if I have not done the other two? Is this going to be the only chance I get to take them this year?

Cheers

Danny

so what is the cost of the magna pull here? $115 in states for the kit which is roughly £60...

Hello Owen824

The Magnepull LSS800A-LC Kit (Case, DVD, Roller, Chain + Leader Magnet) is 79.95 GBP (Inc. VAT).

Best regards

Joe

Anyone have a couple of spare show tickets they'd be willing to send my way?:lease:

Except the CEDIA Expo is a trade only show for the industry.

If you are in the trade you then you'll know where to go to get free registration for a ticket. If not then I am afraid its not available to you.

Having been on the trade / supplier side for a good 5 years, end users visiting the show, gaining access to trade prices and details are a big problem for suppiers and the show itself.

At the begining of the shows life (almost 10 years ago?) there were both trade and end user days, but that caused to much confusion over who was what that it stopped within a couple of years.

Sorry to but a dampener on it.
