sparkytoon, can you play SACDs? there are quite a number of 5.1 surround SACDs - my favourites are Roxy Music's Avalon, Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and Dire Straits Brothers in Arms. You will need a multichannel SACD capable player for this.

There are also a number of DVD-Audio releases which if you have a DVD player can play at least the 5.1 DD or DTS mixes. Queen The Game and A Night at the Opera, Porcupine Tree in absentia, Blue Man Group Audio and Flaming Lips Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots all have amazing surround mixes. I haven't heard Beck's Guero, but if you like him then you should check it out.

    Check out http://www.highfidelityreview.com/ and http://www.sa-cd.net/

Also there have been some DTS-CDs which will play in your DVD player too - look in http://www.dts.com/entertainment/ they released Wings' Band on the Run in surround 5.1 a number of years ago

Lastly, why wait.. hit Dolby ProLogic II processing on your receiver when listening to any stereo CDs ;)

can you tell I like my music multichannel?

There's a couple of Simple Minds DTS CD's just recently released. Sting has a few DTS CD's and also REM.

Didn't think they'd release any more DTS CDs since DVD-Audio came out

Hi Feisal, I could not agree with you more about using your Dolby Pro Logic IIx decoder, I have not listened to a CD in Stereo for about five years, I have found that the higher the original production values, the more cohesive the CD will sound when processed by your Dolby Pro Logic decoder.

A good example of this would be Mike Oldfields Songs of a Distant earth, this album sounds absolutely thrilling as does Platinum Voyager and Amarok.

augh :( I'm reminded my Songs of Distant Earth well.... disappeared. must get another copy.

Queen's A Night At The Opera CD also sounds pretty neat thru DPLII - although the DVD-A is discrete multichannel and is much better.

The SACD of Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral is a good one, as is the DVD-A of With Teeth.

I can also recommend the two recent DTS 96/24 multi channel releases of Simple Minds New Gold Dream and Once Upon A Time....fantastic albums and remastering on those two !!

I play all my CDs and iTunes through TAG McLarens' surround programme as I prefer it.

PL11x is good also as is Lexicon's Logic 7. Don't tell that to the 2 channel boys though  :rotfl:

    Hi,

    Thanks

Thankyou very much. :smashin: I didn't even know this existed. I've looked through DVD-A/SACD listings before for such things but must've kept missing it. :suicide:

Good link but I'll take the coward's way out and buy from for Play.com at £10.49 as I've used them many times and their delivery is quick. :)
