Whats the deal with the HK site of CD-Wow, do the shipping times vary from the UK one & can you pay with UK £?

i find that its quicker than the uk

dvd's usually turn up within 4 days

i'm still waiting for a ps2 game from the uk site and it was over 8 days ago i ordered it

you order in hk dollars its a pound or so cheaper than the uk site but i also think it depends on how the exchange rate is as well
if its good then the thing you order may be a little cheaper

Exchange rate should (in theory) be great at the moment given strength of pound against US dollar (as HK dollar is pegged to US dollar).

Not if your credit card was issued by Liverpool Victoria or Nationwide.

I've used the HK site a couple of times - but what I don't understand is although I pay in HK dollars - and my worldpay receipt is in HK dollars, on my credit card its charged in pounds ! ... entry is Worldpay .... X pounds ?

Normally a foreign currency shows up on the credit card as X dollars, exchange rate, final amount etc.

Why is Worldpay charging me in pounds ? Their exchange rate could be not as good as my credit card - and in theory they are actually debiting a different amount than I've permitted ....

    Any ideas ?

HK site is very quick - 2 DVDs were sent on Monday - arrived Tuesday ! Thats a record for CD-WOW for me.

    Mark.

Mark, Presuming you have a U.K. bank account, they will only deal in £sterling. Looks like they just haven't listed the transaction exchange rate on your bank statement. If you divide the amount you paid in $HK by the amount you paid in £Sterling, it will give you the exchange rate used, assuming their was no commission charged by your bank. A quick check of teetext will give you the $HK rate and let you see if you have been charged a fair rate.
When checking teletext, use the tourist rate for comparison, you will never get the up to the minute rate, due to banks profits and rate fluctuations etc. If you get a chance, you could post your findings.
